Foursquare is a relatively new, location-based social networking service, in which participants earn points and badges for check-ins at various locations. Users install apps on their internet-enabled smartphones (iPhones, Androids, Blackberrys, etc), and when they arrive somewhere, open up their app to check in. However, if your location isn’t in Foursquare, it’s a bit of a hassle for someone to add it with their phone, and the venue must already be in their database before anyone can check in. Once you’re in, you appear in the list of places nearby that Foursquare users see when they are out and about, and open up the app. They can also write brief recommendations, or “tips” to share something they particularly enjoyed about your product or service.
It was just recently opened up beyond major metropolitan areas, and many places in the Seaward Village area haven’t been entered yet. So, SouthSeaward.com (specifically, Karen) will be entering everyone who’s in our directory in Foursquare and creating a little social media badge on your profile that’ll look like this:
Go ahead and click that little icon, it’ll take you to a page explaining the benefits to your business to make special offers to Foursquare users – a giveaway for every 10 checkins, for instance, or special privileges for the “mayor” (the person who has visited most often).
SouthSeaward.com will continue to add new social features, and keep you up-to-date on exciting promotional opportunities like this.
